Million dollar views for a fraction of the cost at The Watson
The Watson Apartments at Walkerville will provide residents with sweeping million dollar views of the City and Adelaide Hills for a fraction of the cost when they go on the market next month (March 16).
This week, construction started on the 210 apartments and 30 hotel rooms in the $120 million development, with developers Asian Pacific Group announcing prices for the one bedroom apartments will start from just $270,000.
The apartments are priced to make the apartments accessible, particularly to younger buyers, and give them a unique chance to buy into the blue ribbon suburb of Walkerville.
Ninety per cent of the 210 apartments will be priced between $270,000 and $400,000. The project will include just one exclusive penthouse level where apartments will be priced from $1.2 million.
Asian Pacific Group Founder David Deague said The Watson Apartments and Hotel will help to attract younger people into Walkerville and add to the vibrancy of this attractive suburb.
“We think there’s a demand for higher density living on the city fringe as long as its well-priced, high quality and in line with the aspirations and lifestyle of local buyers ,” said Mr Deague.
“This is what we’ve aimed to create at The Watson.
“Residents at the Watson will enjoy an enviable lifestyle with full access to the Hotel facilities which will include eateries operated by renowned restaurateurs, a commercial business centre, an artist in residence studio, pool, health and recreational facilities.
“They will also have direct access to the revitalised Riverbank precinct and Adelaide Oval via the Linear Park. Residents will be able to walk or cycle into the City by hiring one of the Hotel bicycles for a nominal fee.
“Alternatively, they can hire an environmentally sensitive Smart Car from the Hotel fleet rather than taking their own car.”
The Asian Pacific Group is confident that the Watson Apartments and Hotel along with adjacent Woolworths’ shopping centre development will act as catalyst for further private investment in Walkerville, particularly along Walkerville Terrace.
The Watson will create 150 new jobs during construction and around 60-70 ongoing jobs through the Hotel’s operations. The Watson Hotel will be the Art Series Group’s fourth hotel and the first outside of Melbourne.
The Group currently owns and operates The Cullen, The Olsen and The Blackman in Melbourne. Each Art Series Hotel is designed to embody an iconic Australian artist’s individual style and characteristics.
The Watson is named after Tommy Watson, a senior Pitjantjatjara elder, and one of Australia's most collectable indigenous artists.
Mr Watson began painting in 2002 following the establishment of the Irrunytju Community Art Centre. He has since then sprung to prominence in Australia and overseas. The Hotel’s foyer and rooms will feature original artworks by Tommy Watson.
The Watson Apartments will go on sale from Saturday 16th March with sales being managed by Ironfish Project Sales and Marketing. An onsite Information Centre along with four display apartments will be open to the public.
Registrations of interest are being accepted now via The Watson website www.thewatsonapartments.com.au Registered buyers will be given a unique opportunity to purchase.
The Watson Apartments and Hotel are due to open in April 2014.
