St Clair Village open for business!
St Clair, Adelaide’s newest suburb, now has its own shopping centre following the official opening today of St Clair Village.
Launched by Premier of South Australia, the Hon Jay Weatherill MP, the $23 million St Clair Village is underpinned by a new market-style Coles supermarket and 18 specialty shops, including a newsagency, hairdresser, travel agent, chemist and restaurants.
Developed by Coles, St Clair Village will create around 160 local jobs and is the third major development Coles has completed in South Australia in the past three months following new store openings in McLaren Vale and Rundle Place in the city.
Coles Group General Manager Stores, Andy Coleman said the new development was exciting for the fledgling suburb.
“St Clair Village and the new Coles supermarket will provide the local community with a fantastic shopping experience,” Mr Coleman said.
“The new Coles store will feature an open bakery with professional bakers preparing delicious breads and cakes from scratch every day, plus a new open preparation meat room where skilled butchers will provide customers with the best South Australian grown meat.”
“In addition to the new Coles supermarket, an excellent mix of shops have been brought together to service this growing region. We think locals will be really impressed by this outstanding new shopping precinct.
“We’re also proud to support local employment with the village creating around 160 new jobs, which is great news for the local community.”
The St Clair development is a joint venture between developers AVJennings and Urban Pacific in collaboration with the Government of South Australia and City of Charles Sturt. It has been master planned over 64ha to incorporate modern housing, parklands and retail outlets, and combines the redevelopment of the former Sheridan site in Woodville and the Cheltenham Racecourse to make it one of Australia’s largest infill projects.
The opening of St Clair Village coincides with the opening of a brand new entrance road into St Clair which runs off Cheltenham Parade. ‘St Clair Avenue’ will be the new major access road for the shopping village and will allow people to drive through St Clair from one side to the other for the first time.
AVJennings State Manager Brian Virgo said the opening of St Clair Shopping Village and the Coles supermarket is a major milestone in the development of this new suburb.
“Today, we’re also celebrating another significant milestone with the opening of St Clair Avenue, which runs directly off Cheltenham Parade, said Mr Virgo.
“St Clair Avenue is the major access road for the Shopping Village as well as allowing people to drive right through St Clair from one side to the other for the first time.
“St Clair is really taking shape with the new parks, lagoons, waterways and Railway Station also due for completion this year.
“The suburb is already home to hundreds of residents and these new facilities will mean more people will look at buying into St Clair.”?
St Clair Village opening hours are Monday to Friday 6am-9pm, Saturday 6am-5pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
