Adelaide’s tallest residential building approved
Vue on King William set to become a city landmark
Vue on King William is set to become Adelaide’s tallest residential building and will help reinvigorate the southern end of King William Street, following approval of development plans by the Development Assessment Commission (DAC).
The approval has been granted subject to a few reserved matters and conditions on consent, which are currently being reviewed by the Asian Pacific Group and joint venture partners Starfish Developments.
The DAC Approval follows the project receiving pre-lodgement approval from both Renewal SA and the South Australian State Government Architect at the end of last year.
The $100 million landmark 85-metre building will bring a new style ofresidential architecture to Adelaide with its 5 level podium, recessed level 6 roof top garden and recreation centreand 21 level curtain wall glass frontage.
The design takes full advantage of its location with future residents to enjoy sweeping views on all sides of the building with stunning vistas over the city and southern parklands towards the hills and Adelaide coastline.
The building has been designed by leading architects Woods Bagot, led by Principal Gavin Kain, alongside Design Architect EnzoCaroscio and a South Australian team. The firm also drew on the expertise of its global studio network for the project.
Vue on King William will incorporate 205 apartments with a maximum of 10 apartments on a single level. The apartments are predominately one and two bedroom with a single Penthouse level featuring 3 three bedroom penthouse apartments.
Asian Pacific Group Chief Executive Officer Will Deague said we’re excited about bringing Vue on King William to the market by the end of May.
“Adelaide is really moving forward with significant investment from both the public and private sectors and the Asian Pacific Group is pleased to be able to invest further in the city,” said Mr Deague.
“The project will add to the vibrancy of the city, which is already enjoying a resurgencewith the redevelopment of key precincts within the CBD.
“Vue will attract new residents into the city with apartments to be sensibly priced to provide an opportunity for many first home buyers to get on the first rung of the property ladder.
“It’s location in the burgeoning southern end of the CBD, proximity to the redeveloped Riverbank Precinct, parklands and Adelaide’s major restaurant and café strips will be attractive for buyers.
“Buyers will be encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport and will be will be attracted by its location right on the tramline, making it easy to commute to work in the CBD, go shopping or attendevents in the city or head to the beach at Glenelg.”
Bicycle parks will outnumber car parks at Vue on King William with 226 secure bike spaces to be provide to residents.
Vue is located within a growing precinct, which has seen the recent development of The Wave and Edge, Quest Apartments and the new Credit Union Centre and the recent acquisition of the Trims site for future development.
The redevelopment of Victoria Square and the proposed new Law Court buildings will add further to the precinct.
Vue on King William will be the second Adelaide project for the Asian Pacific Group and follows the success of their first project - The Watson Hotel and Apartments at Walkerville. Ninety per cent of the apartments at The Watson were sold within the first few weeks.
The Asian Pacific Group will joint venture with local development firm Starfish Developments for Vue on King William, and the project is expected to create around 200 jobs during construction.
Work will commence onsite in July.
