Aged care solar surge for Tindo
Aged care facilities across Adelaide are installing major solar systems at record levels, according to Australia’s leading solar panel manufacturer Tindo Solar.
The company has secured seven major projects in the SA aged care market over the past 12 months equating to well over 500kW of solar capacity representing investment of more than $1.2 million.
Tindo Solar founder and Managing Director Adrian Ferraretto says demand from the South Australian aged care sector over the past year has been unprecedented as more providers seek to reduce their long-term operating costs.
“The level of interest we have received from aged care facilities over the past 12 months has been extraordinary,” he said.
“Aged care facilities generally have a high electricity demand due to their 24-hour requirements, so as traditional energy prices continue to rise, it’s actually not surprising that more facilities are now pursuing solar electricity as a cheaper, renewable alternative.
“Solar technology has never been better or more accessible to commercial organisations than it is now, and the local aged care sector is certainly leading the way for other industries.”
Mr Ferraretto said Tindo Solar has secured solar projects for the following aged care facilities in SA over the past year:
- Martindale Aged Care at Gawler – 100kW system
- Valley View Residential Care – 75kW system
- Resthaven head office at Malvern – 60kW system
- St Hilarion Aged Care at Seaton – 96kW system
- Fullarton Lutheran Homes – 100kW system
- Bethsalem Care at Happy Valley – 90kW system
- Resthaven Leabrook – 15kW system
“We’ve just installed 100kW systems at Fullarton Lutheran Homes and St Hilarion Aged Care and are in the process of another 100kW system at Martindale Aged Care, which are arguably the largest solar arrays that an aged care facility has ever seen in the state,” said Mr Ferraretto.
“And we’re anticipating even bigger projects in the future as we’ve found that solar energy generation fits really well with the demand profile of aged care facilities. Crucially, it also allows facility owners to capitalise on a complete return on investment, typically well within five years.”
Bennett Aged Care Group, which operates Martindale Aged Care at Gawler and Valley View Residential Care, is the most recent aged care provider to opt for a solar system with Tindo.
“Increasing energy costs are putting enormous strain on the finances of many businesses, including aged care facilities, so to find an alternative electricity source that is superior both financially and environmentally is fantastic,” said Bennett Aged Care Group Managing Director Michael Bennett.
“We estimate these new Tindo systems at our Martindale and Valley View facilities will result in combined energy savings of almost $100,000 a year, so we’re absolutely delighted.”
Established in South Australia in 2011, Tindo Solar designs and manufactures technologically advanced solar panels for Australian and overseas markets from its Mawson Lakes base within Technology Park north of Adelaide. The wholly Australian-owned and operated company is focused on increasing manufacturing output and creating local jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector.
