Generational change at Hansen Yuncken
Mr David Beslich has been appointed Chairman of Australia’s largest private construction company, Hansen Yuncken following the retirement of former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Mr Peter Kennedy after 40 years with the company.
The appointment of Mr Beslich, who is currently an Executive Director of Hansen Yuncken, marks the next stage of generational change within the highly successful family owned business.
“Hansen Yuncken is well positioned for continuity of business development, project delivery and corporate growth,” said Director and former Chairman, Mr Peter Hansen. “David’s appointment completes the current phase of planned leadership renewal which will underpin Hansen Yuncken’s continued strong position in the Australian construction sector.”
Mr Hansen said that in early 2010, Mr Joe Barr had been appointed CEO while NSW State Manager Mr Chris Bulmer had also been appointed to the additional role of Chief Operating Officer in June, 2011.
“Together with the strong team of State managers, we have proven executive experience with the capability to secure Hansen Yuncken’s future.”
David will take on the Chairman’s role after his successful finalisation of two of the largest projects that Hansen Yuncken has undertaken - the $850 million NSW BER Schools Project, and the $250 million New Orange Hospital PPP - both award winning projects. He will remain on the Hansen Yuncken / Leighton Contractors Joint Venture Board overseeing the $1.8 billion New Royal Adelaide Hospital project.
"Hansen Yuncken took advantage of the past decade of growth in the Australian economy to become the largest private construction company in Australia, and we acknowledge Peter Kennedy for his outstanding service and the important role played in achieving this position,” Mr Hansen said.
“With projects valued at approximately $3.4 billion currently under construction and a substantial balance sheet, Hansen Yuncken continues to remain well positioned for the future.”
