SA based Jobs Statewide expand into disability employment services
Local employment services provider Jobs Statewide will expand its services and open ten offices in South Australia and New South Wales after winning a large contract under the Federal government’s Disability Employment Services (DES) program.
The not for profit organisation will open new offices in Salisbury, Elizabeth, Marion, Modbury, Noarlunga and Port Augusta in South Australia and Redfern in New South Wales.
They will also expand existing offices in Adelaide’s CBD, Norwood and Whyalla to deliver disability employment services from March 2013.
The contract recipients for the first full competitive tender for DES were announced by Kate Ellis, Minister for Employment Participation.
Jobs Statewide Chief Executive Officer Ms Wendy Jayne-Williams said expanding into disability employment services marks a new era for Jobs Statewide.
“The new contracts are recognition of the success we’ve had delivering services to job seekers and in particular our ability to support the long term unemployed into training and sustainable employment.
“This has seen us retain five-star status and a position as one of the country’s leading Jobs Services Australia providers since its inception in 2009.
“This success has led us to develop a new employment services delivery model to meet the needs of people with a disability and this includes brokering strong relationships with employers,” said Ms Williams.
“Working in partnership with employers to develop opportunities for job seekers and then supporting them into employment is essential.
“Every day we see how people’s lives are transformed by gaining employment and we believe the government’s reform of Disability Employment Services will provide better outcomes for people with a disability seeking employment.”
To assist job seekers, Jobs Statewide has developed a number of proprietary training programs including specialist programs to support highly disadvantaged job seekers and those with significant barriers to employment.
In recognition of its innovative approach, the Federal government has funded its Skills for a Purpose Program as a Demonstration Pilot for assisting the long term unemployed.
As a DES provider, Jobs Statewide will continue to innovate and develop new programs to support people with a disability into sustainable employment.
Jobs Statewide Incorporated started life as a community youth support scheme in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and played an important role in supporting the socially disadvantaged.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Wendy Jayne-Williams Jobs Statewide Inc has grown into an employment services and registered training organisation with offices in four States.
Today, Jobs Statewide Inc operates through four divisions – Jobs Statewide, Excel Recruitment, Excel Training and Rexco People.
The organisation has placed more than 50,000 people into sustainable employment in its 25 year history.
