Aus Lights on the River 2025 line-up announced
From artworks and fireworks to street-racing bikes, children’s activities and a capella singers, Aus Lights 2025 will have something for everyone.
Centred around Tarntanya Wama/Elder Park, Aus Lights is presented by the Australia Day Council of South Australia.
Releasing its 2025 program, Australia Day Council of South Australia CEO Jan Chorley said the activities aimed to respect the breadth of the South Australian community, highlighting what unites us.
“For many people and in many ways, the past year has been difficult,” Ms Chorley said.
“By supporting our First Nations peoples, embracing our multicultural communities, and recognising local heroes such as our first responders, we provide an opportunity to focus on the values that are shared across all communities.
“We are offering free events designed to support a feeling of community and inclusiveness.”
Adding to the spectacle, this year’s January 26 event coincides with the Santos Tour Down Under Final Stage Presentation and the cycling crowd is encouraged to stay on for the Aus Lights activities.
Event highlights include:
- Mourning in the Morning Smoking Ceremony (7.30am) – a respectful ceremony led by Kaurna Elders to acknowledge the historical and cultural significance of the day for First Nations people.
- Respecting Country Parade (7pm) – a multicultural showcase featuring participants from South Australia’s Multicultural and Intercultural communities, reflecting the diversity of Australia’s people.
- Rotunda art installation.
- Kids Zone (5pm) – performances, arts, crafts and interactive activities
- Tour Down Under Final Stage Podium Presentation 3.45pm – coincides with Aus Lights on the River and the crowd is encouraged to continue on to Aus Lights on the River.
